kavi (they/them) is a handpoke artist who sees the art of tattooing as deeply linked to body reclamation and liberation, and is inspired by all forms of transgender/transsexual body modification. their work aims to tie physical form to the things that make us us, especially through their topography series (memorializing a loved place as an abstract tattoo based on the topographical map) and stained glass custom work. they are also a big proponent of tattoos as exterior decoration.
outside of tattooing, kavi works in public health/health education, and is especially interested in the intersection of science/health/gender/sexuality.
kavi is based in brooklyn, with roots in the boston diy & community taught art scene.
